Over the last year and a half I’ve been working on a memoir that I am finally ready to share with my dear friends and readers who have known me over the years in both incarnations. Writing came first. I’ve been a published writer and editor since 1983 and while my passion for art has accompanied the writing every step of the way, it wasn’t until 1995 that I began to draw in earnest. Once I started drawing and painting I indulged myself in catching up on a longing I always had to express myself in color–but hadn’t permitted myself to do out of a fear that I couldn’t adequately do both writing and drawing at the same time. Now many years later, I face the same challenge in reverse. It’s time to put the art on temporary hold–not that I’m stopping drawing or teaching–but the priority in 2013 is to complete and publish a memoir about my life as I made the transition from being a Grunberg to a Wakabayashi over these past 25 years in Tokyo. I warmly welcome you to my new website: lianewakabayashi.com, which over the next few months of summer 2013 will be the place where you can come read chapters from my book and if you wish leave comments. The best way to do so will be by contacting me directly at lianewakabayashi@gmail.com.
With warm appreciation for your friendship and ongoing interest in my work.
Liane
